Lough Salt

The large turnout of members who made the trip for our first outing were rewarded with the most magnificent weather and the majestic setting of Lough Salt did not disappoint either.
We really could not have asked for better conditions. With so much to photograph the members broke into a number of different groups with many choosing to take the long hike up Lough Salt Mountain, all 1541 feet of it. It took an hour and a half to get to the summit but the amazing view that awaited us made the journey well worthwhile.

On the way down we stopped to view the sunset over Tory Island. In the photo, club secretary Noreen McGlynn can be seen ‘soaking’ up the golden view.

Overall it was a great success and enjoyed by all who attended. We are so fortunate to live in such beautiful countryside and when the sun shines the beauty of Donegal shines through.

As a lasting memory of the evening, can all those who attended, email just one photograph  to lkfotoclub@gmail.com or submit it here over the next few days. I will create a separate gallery of all photos submitted.
Thanks all for making the effort and making it a memorable occasion.

Hi Ciaran, can you go into a bit of techie detail about your picture “Noreen on Lough Salt”?
It is a great picture, I think it’s fantastic!
It’s either a HDR or an ND filter, but I don’t think it’s a filter, as it doesn’t look like you used a long exposure.

If a HDR, how many stops and frames?
    Handheld, tripod, ISO, lense?

    Cheers, PJ.

  2. Hi PJ, thanks for the kind comment. The photo is a HDR image created using 3 separately exposed photos taken using a monopod. No filters, and as Noreen might confirm, very little setup.
I will put together a small tutorial with screenshots to show the original photos and the process used, over the next few days..
